Founder, Dance & Movement Instructor
A native of New York City, Ms. Robinson was raised in Harlem. At the age of 14, she was accepted into the “famed” Performing Arts High School (P.A.) in NYC, the school upon which both the movie and television series FAME were based. While attending P.A., Ms. Robinson received numerous scholarships and contract offers from dance luminaries such as Martha Graham, Alvin Ailey, Donald McKayle, Dianne McIntyre and Bernice Johnson. Ms. Robinson made her Broadway debut at age 16 in THE WIZ, starring Stephanie Mills and thus began her career. Eartha Robinson has established herself as a “veteran” in the Entertainment Industry, having worked alongside some of the most celebrated and innovative Choreographers and Directors of our time, including: George Faison, Michael Peters, Debbie Allen, Otis Salid, Lester Wilson, Spike Lee, Norman Jewison, Wes Craven, Gary Marshall and many others who’s light continues to shine through her and into her work. |
After relocating from New York to Los Angeles to join the original cast of the television series FAME, Ms. Robinson has worked as a Dancer, Actress and a dance double in over 100 films, television shows, commercials, specials, documentaries and filmed stage shows. Her credits as a performer and member of the Creative Team are extensive: Fame, Grey’s Anatomy, A Different World, School Daze, Daughters Of The Dust, Stompin’ At The Savoy, Malcom X, ten Academy Awards shows, six Grammy Awards shows, the Teen Choice Awards, NAACP Image Awards, the Essence Awards, etc.
Ms. Robinson has been Creative Director and Choreographer for internationally renowned recording artists such as Aretha Franklin, Earth, Wind and Fire, Chicago, Luther Vandross, Beyoncé, Jill Scott (including the 2014 Academy Awards Gala Concert), Kirk Franklin, Color me Bad, Karen White and many others. Likewise, the list of “Award Winning” leading actors she has worked with includes Whoopi Goldberg, Eddie Murphy, Denzel Washington, Angela Bassett, Cuba Gooding Jr., Gerard Depardieu, Laurence Fishburne, and Giovanni Ribisi.
The greatest assets Ms. Robinson brings to her work is her experience and comprehensive knowledge of all aspects of the theatrical process including stage, film and video. She recently designed “Creative Movement” for August Wilson’s Joe Turner’s Come and Gone & Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, both directed by Tony Award winner Phylicia Rashad at the Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles. She was Artistic Director for a segment featured on the final Queen Latifah Show & she most recently worked on LaLaLand, alongside Beyoncé for the Grammy’s & Choreographed for an Event honoring Nancy Wilson.
Eartha is committed to sharing the joy and spirit of dance and pure creativity with the youth of today by bringing the gift of Performing Arts to any child that desires to express themselves, to develop learning and social skills and as a means to ‘pay it forward’.
